BROWN HET-1070 Origin of Magnetic Fields in the Universe Due to Nonminimal Gravitational-Electromagnetic Coupling
نویسندگان
چکیده
Basically the only existing theories for the creation of a magnetic field (B) in the Universe are the creation of a seed field ∼ 10 G in spiral galaxy which is subsequently supposedly amplified up to the observed 10—10 G by a dynamo process or a seed intergalactic field of ∼ 10—10 G which is amplified by collapse and differential rotation. No satisfactory dynamo theory, however, exists today. We show that a ∼ 10—10 G magnetic field in spiral galaxies is directly obtained from a nonminimal gravitational-electromagnetic coupling, without the need of significant dynamo amplification.

On a Theory for Nonminimal Gravitational-electromagnetic Coupling Consistent with Observational Data
The idea that the seed primordial magnetic fields can be explained by the nonminimal coupling between gravitational and electromagnetic fields is discussed. The predicted values of the magnetic field of the spiral galaxies are in agreement with the observations.
متن کاملAn astronomical search for evidence of new physics: Limits on gravity-induced birefringence from the magnetic white dwarf RE J0317-853
The coupling of the electromagnetic field directly with gravitational gauge fields leads to new physical effects that can be tested using astronomical data. Here we consider a particular case for closer scrutiny, a specific nonminimal coupling of torsion to electromagnetism, which enters into a metric-affine geometry of space-time. We show that under the assumption of this nonminimal coupling, ...
متن کاملPreheating, Parametric Resonance and the Einstein Field Equations
We consider the interaction between perturbations in the inflaton and in the metric during the preheating phase in simple inflationary models. By numerically integrating the Einstein field equations we are able to gauge the impact of non-linear gravitational effects on preheating for the first time. In the λφ model we find a large increase in the amplitude of sub-Hubble metric modes, beyond tha...
متن کاملRapid Spacetime Transport and Machian Mass Fluctuations: Theory and Experiment
The equations of physics, generally, are invariant under the symmetry groups of infinitesimal space and time translations. This means that energy and momentum are conserved in “isolated” systems, that is, systems that do not couple physically to anything outside of themselves. Among the propellantless propulsion schemes of interest in the context of “breakthrough propulsion physics”, however, a...
متن کاملKaluza-Klein Theories and the Anomalous Magnetic Moment of the Muon
We discuss nonminimal couplings of fermions to the electromagnetic field, which generically appear in models with extra dimensions. We consider models where the electromagnetic field is generated by the Kaluza-Klein mechanism. The nonminimal couplings contribute at tree-level to anomalous magnetic and electric dipole moments of fermions. We use recent measurements of these quantities to put lim...
